Facts (Overview)
Upon the merger that took place on February 28, 2010 between Meridiana and Eurofly, Meridiana fly S.p.A. (IG) is now the second largest airline company in Italy, combining two renowned and historical names in the air transport business.
Meridiana fly, the only Italian company listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (trading code EEZ), can now offer its customers a network comprising both leisure and business destinations in Italy, Europe, Africa, North America and Asia, with a weekly offering of more than 1,500 flights focusing on the five main base airports of Olbia, Milan Malpensa, Verona, Florence and Cagliari.
The company currently boasts a fleet of 37 aircraft including:
16 MD82s, 3 A330s, 12 A320s, 4 A319s and 2 ATR 42s.
A fleet renovation program aimed at introducing more A320s in the coming years has been launched, while a complete cabin interiors re-vamp project on both the Airbus and MD82 fleet has now been completed.
The merger represents another important step in the extraordinary history of the Meridiana Group, which started as Alisarda back in 1963 with a single 18-seater Beechcraft C18, growing along the years to become the second largest Italian carrier, with a consolidated turnover of more than € 800 million and counting on a workforce of 2,700.
