Facts (Overview)
St. John's International Airport is the most easterly airport in NA and is the 10th busiest in Canada. Located in the capital city of St. John's, which is the service centre for the expanding oil & gas industry and $50 billion of capital projects in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, the airport has achieved unprecedented growth. In 2012, the airport reached a new record level with 1.5 million pax travelling through its gates.
St. John’s International Airport is essentially a downtown airport (10km from downtown core) with no noise restrictions and no slots. St. John's International Airport is the gateway to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, with 80% of non-resident visitors to the province travelling through this airport. As the largest airport in the province and located on the east coast of the island, air service is the predominant form of transportation to and from other parts of the country.
