Insel Air Aruba opens its 10th non-stop flight to a beautiful destination, Medellin Colombia

"Insel Air stepped up to one more opportunity, and we are very happy as an airport that they did it and I think that they are going to be very successful”

Aruba Airport Authority N.V. celebrated yet another milestone with Insel Air Aruba and other related partners and the honorable consul Colombia to Aruba on Monday, July 6 2015 with the inauguration of the Aruba-Medellin-Aruba route.

The Aruban carrier's intention is to open various other direct flights to other cities in Colombia, Insel Air Aruba Marketing Manager Tita Iglesias explained. These flights are geared towards facilitating the traffic between Aruba and the country that has 30% of the Latin America marketshare in the island's tourism.

Jo-Anne Arends, Head Airline Marketing Aruba Airport Authority N.V. congratulated Insel Air Aruba, referring to the new route as a very important destination for Colombians traveling to Aruba for vacations and visiting family, as well as for Aruba residents visiting Medellin for holidays and medical tourism.

This is Insel Air Aruba's 11th destination.  Last week  Insel Air started servicing San Juan Puerto Rico, a market that had been left unserved for about seven years. Previously American Airlines and American Eagle featured direct flights between the two islands for 20 years and with much success, transporting about 130,000 passengers per year. San Juan is the largest airport hub in the Caribbean, with over 8 million passengers handled per year.

Currently Aruba International Queen Beatrix Airport is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean Region with 31 airlines transporting over 2.5 million arrivals per year, mainly from North America, South America, Caribbean and Europe. Insel Air Aruba’s development of new potential routes for Aruba, as well as maintaining existing routes and retaining partnerships is remarkable.

Next week we will inaugurate the flight to Sint Maarten, via Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Jo-Anne Arends added, satisfied with the airline's efforts and increased traffic for Aruba's Reina Beatrix International Airport. Arends found the Insel Air Aruba Puerto Rico experience an excellent one, whereas getting to Puerto Rico would formerly take almost 10 hours, with the direct flight, it now takes only an hour and a half to get to Puerto Rico out of Aruba.

The Aruban Press and also stakeholders of AAA and Insel Air Aruba, such as representatives of Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) and the Aruba Hotel and Tourism Association (AHATA) were present and borded the 80-seat Fokker, networking and making plans, identifying and analyzing potential new partnerships.

Insel Air Aruba features the Aruba-Medellin-Aruba twice per week, on Mondays and Thursdays.

"Insel Air stepped up to one more opportunity, and we are very happy as an airport that they did it and I think that they are going to be very successful,” Jo-Anne Arends emphasized.

Aruba Airport Authority is focusing on short term planning and goals  and having Insel Air Aruba as a partner is an important benchmark to monitor.

In conclusion, Jo-Anne Arends explained that all short term plans are being developed parallel to the airport’s long term plans, which include more flights and better accommodations.
