Curaçao Airport Partners recognized for excellence in Airport Marketing

CAP receives recognition ‘Routes Americas 2016 Marketing Awards – Highly Commended’

Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP) is pleased to report that it was awarded a “Highly Commended” recognition for excellence in airport marketing and route development during the Routes Americas 2016 Conference recently held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. “We are proud to be the operators of the Curaçao International Airport and delighted to receive this recognition on behalf of all who are involved in this important industry”, said CAP CEO Ralph Blanchard.

The awards, which are voted on exclusively by the airlines, are divided into several airport categories based upon the number of passengers and destination category.  This award program was created in 1997 to recognize excellence in Airport Marketing and Route Development success, by the airline community. Every year the airlines select the airports that they believe have developed and executed the best overall marketing and route development services and presents the awards at the annual Routes Conference. Curaçao Airport Partners was nominated for the ‘Routes Americas 2016 Marketing Awards’ in the airport category of 1 – 4 million passengers, and competed alongside Aruba; St. Thomas; US Virgin Islands; Charleston, South Carolina; and Medellin, Colombia.

CAP focus on route development and marketing
Airline route development and marketing are among the most important roles Curaçao Airport Partners fulfills in the management and development of the Curaçao International Airport.  Developing strong relationships with existing airline partners, exploring new complementary air routes and markets, and supporting our other tourism and destination stakeholders in creating the demand for Curaçao is critical to the success of CAP and Curaçao.  In 2015 passenger movements to Curaçao grew by 4% over 2014 and the amount of airline seats grew by 8%, which symbolizes airline confidence in our market and our marketing strategies.

Motivated by ‘Highly Commended’ recognition
A respected panel of judges made up of senior members of the Airline Network Planning Community reviewed airline nominations and submissions from the nominated airports in order to determine the winners. The panel consisted of the following experts: Adriana Hurtado, Director of Network Planning, Avianca; Olga Guizado, Senior Planning Analyst, COPA Airlines; Chris Kennedy, General Manager, Network Planning and Global Partnership Development, Delta Air Lines; and Dave Clark, Vice President, Network Planning, JetBlue Airways.

“To be recognized once again for our airport marketing and route development efforts, and our commitment to continuously improve our relationship with the airline industry is fantastic, and we are honored by the recognition”, said Ralph Blanchard, CEO CAP. “The relationship with our airline partners, combined with the support and cooperation from our partners and stakeholders in tourism on Curaçao, creates a model of success for Curaçao. This recognition from the airline community is an important achievement and motivates us to continue our efforts with increased dedication and determination. We are proud to be the operators of the Curaçao International Airport and delighted to receive this recognition on behalf of all who are involved in this important industry”.
