EMIRATES DUBLIN | DUBAI, goes DOUBLE DAILY

Twice Daily begins...a testament to success

Dublin Airport has welcomed Emirates' new extended twice daily service to Dubai which was launched yesterday evening with an informal event in T2.

Managing Director Vincent Harrison said the Dublin-Dubai route had been "incredibly successful" since beginning in 2011. And he said the airline's decision to double capacity on the service was testament to that success.

He added: “This increase in capacity not only offers more choice to business and leisure passengers, it significantly increases cargo capacity into the Middle East and beyond."

Last evening's first extra departure – on top of its already popular daily lunchtime service – was marked with refreshments for the passengers prior to boarding.

The departure gate was decorated in the Emirates colours as representatives of the airline and Dublin Airport marked the occasion.

The travelling passengers were welcomed at the gate by Dublin Airport’s Head of B2B Marketing John Hurley.

Emirates will operate two state of the art Boeing 777s on the route, connecting up to 22,000 customers in each direction each month – double the existing total.

The new flight also means an additional 25 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, with a potential to transfer 20,000 tonnes of cargo on the route over the next year.

Said Emirates country manager for Ireland Enda Corneille: "With the city of Dubai growing in popularity as a destination for both business and leisure travellers, we are confident that this additional flight will make connecting with Dubai easier than ever before."

“The new flight times mean that those arriving are free to enjoy their first full day in the metropolis of Dubai, with a morning arrival time,” he said.

“The departure time is equally customer-friendly, as it allows plenty of time to check out of your hotel and avoid an early morning rush to the airport."
