BA expands from DUBLIN AIRPORT to London City

The busiest route in Europe...continues to grow

British Airways will commence a five-a-day-service to London City Airport from Dublin Airport on October 26 next using a mix of Embraer 170 and 190 jets.

The new route is in addition to the airline’s seven times daily Dublin to London Heathrow service.

An early morning departure time from Dublin will also facilitate connections on to British Airways’ 26 domestic, European and international destinations from the Docklands Airport.

As well as the introduction of the new London City Airport route, British Airways is moving all of its flights from Terminal 1 to the airline’s flagship Heathrow home, Terminal 5 from October 26.

Dublin Airport managing director Vincent Harrison welcomed the launch of the Dublin to London City route as well as the move of British Airways’ flights to Terminal 5 at Heathrow.

“British Airways has been adding capacity on the Dublin-Heathrow route in recent years and we’re delighted to see the airline launch a new Dublin-London City service, offering greater choice to the travelling public. Dublin-London is the world’s second busiest international city pair, with 3.6 million people flying between the two cities last year and this new route to London City will help grow that market ever further.”

Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group, the parent company of British Airways, welcomed the two developments at a launch event held in Dublin last night.

Mr Walsh said: “I am delighted that British Airways customers will now be able to benefit from the introduction of this new route to London City Airport.

“At British Airways, we understand only too well the importance of the Dublin to London air link and this new route will help further develop and strengthen business and tourism relationships between the two capital cities.

“It complements our existing London Heathrow service and the excellent schedule means customers will have plenty of choice whether flying for business or leisure.
