On 1 May 2015 British Airways and Kraków Airport officially opened a new route to London Heathrow. British Airways are returning to Kraków Airport after several years of absence.

The new connection between Kraków and London Heathrow will be operated four times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays by aircraft types Airbus A319 and A320.

To celebrate the inaugural flight Kraków Airport had a surprise for passengers. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony carried out by representatives of the airport and the carrier, passengers passed through a gate of balloons in the colours of the carrier prepared specially for this occasion.

All passengers departing for London could help themselves to a special cake made for the occasion.

After landing, the carrier’s aircraft was greeted with a water salute.
Passengers of the first flight from London Heathrow received strings of beads which are a symbol of Małopolska, provided by the Małopolska Tourist Organisation, and materials on the sights of Kraków, provided by the Kraków City Hall.
