Bavaria's hub at ITB with news of new long-haul routes:
Munich Airport in attendance at the world's leading travel fair
FMG, the Munich Airport operating company, is back again at the ITB in Berlin. This year the world's biggest trade fair for the travel industry will take place from March 10th to 14th at the trade fair grounds in Germany's capital. FMG, which has shown a strong presence at the ITB for decades, will again be found in Hall 9 with a modern look and plenty of information.
The contemporary feel of the FMG stand reflects the light, transparent architecture of Munich Airport, which has now been chosen by passengers as one of the five world's best airports for the last five years. At the FMG stand in Hall 9 (number 103), visitors can inspect a six square meter model of the airport to get a detailed look at the facilities - especially in the passenger handling areas.
In 2010 the Munich Airport stand again has exciting news for ITB visitors. The attractive range of long-haul routes served from Munich continues to expand, mainly through new destinations offered by airlines in the global Star Alliance. Lufthansa will be flying three times a week to Miami - and to Tashkent in Uzbekistan. At the end of March Singapore Airlines will be operating five weekly flights to Singapore with a Boeing 777. All Nippon Airways will also be flying a Boeing 777 on its daily flights to Tokyo. In addition, Continental Airlines will be departing daily from Munich to Newark, near New York, with a Boeing 767. According to current scheduling, the number of intercontinental flights will increase by more than 6 percent to approximately 260 long-haul connections per week.
