Ryanair Announces New Routes From Cork For Summer 2011

Friday, December 3rd, 2010. Ryanair today announced two new routes from Cork to Gran Canaria and Tenerife in the Canary Islands for summer 2011.

The announcement is part of the airline’s plans to open three new bases on the Canary Islands early next year. Ryanair will base six aircraft across Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife from February 2011 while also increasing Fuerteventura routes and frequencies.

The Gran Canaria service will operate from Tuesday, March 29th to Tuesday, October 25th inclusive. The flights will depart Cork at 15.45 and return at 00.50. The Tenerife service will operate from Sunday, February 20th to Sunday, October 23rd inclusive. The flights will depart Cork at 20.40 and return at 20.15.

Last month, Ryanair announced plans to introduce winter sun services from Cork to Faro in Portugal, Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands and Malaga on the South Coast of Spain. Today’s announcement boosts the options for sunseekers travelling direct from Cork.

Kevin Cullinane, Marketing Manager, Cork Airport, said: “This latest Ryanair announcement of new routes from Cork Airport is positive news for the greater Cork region. With much of the country in the midst of a record breaking cold snap, it’s nice to be able to look forward to a sunshine getaway to foreign climes in the New Year”.
