Nov 1st. - This afternoon, a fully loaded Dreamliner made its very first take-off towards Las Vegas from Avinor Oslo Airport. Norwegian is currently the only airline operating direct routes between Oslo and Las Vegas. The route constitutes Norwegian’s seventh direct flight to North America from Norway’s main airport.

Starting tomorrow, the flight will leave every Tuesday for the entire winter season. The route will be serviced by a Boeing 787-8 with capacity for 291 passengers.

“It is a happy day for all Norwegians who love to travel. Las Vegas is one of the world’s most famous cities, and we are very excited about Norwegian establishing this route. This route will increase access to a new city and region with new opportunities for further development and job creation”, says Jasper Spruit, Vice President of Traffic Development at Avinor.

“The US is a favourite destination for Norwegians, and we see that direct flights are popular among tourists as well as business travellers,” he adds.

Popular among Europeans as well as Americans

The airline is also pleased to introduce yet another direct route between Norway’s main airport and the American continent.

“We are happy to offer travellers from Norway another route to the US, this time from Oslo to Las Vegas. We can see that more and more customers choose Norwegian when travelling between these continents, which goes to show that Europeans and Americans alike appreciate reasonable fares, direct flights, good service and the new, more environmentally friendly Dreamliners,” says Thomas Ramdahl, Norwegian Chief Commercial Officer.

When combined with Norwegian’s one-way tickets, the vast American route network provides even more opportunities for travellers who want more out of their trip to the US. One of many options is flying directly to Los Angeles or San Francisco before travelling on by car through Death Valley to Las Vegas. You can enjoy any kind of entertainment imaginable downtown, play golf on world-class courses, bike around the iconic Hoover Dam or ride a helicopter through the Grand Canyon – before flying straight home to Norway. If you want to go on a voyage of discovery in the US, you have an endless number of varied options to choose from.

“We are excited that Norwegian are offering yet another direct route to and from Las Vegas. Passengers flying from Norway now have an outstanding opportunity to experience everything Las Vegas has to offer. The city saw a record-breaking number of visitors in 2015, and we look forward to welcoming even more Norwegian passengers,” says Rossi Ralenkotter, President/CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Norwegian launched their first long-distance route between Oslo and New York in 2013. Today, the airline services direct flights to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Boston – and now also Las Vegas.

Avinor owns and operates Norway's main airport, Oslo Airport, which is an important communications hub in Norway with approximately 24 million travellers and more than 235,000 aircraft movements per year.
