AirBridge Cargo makes Avinor Oslo Airport the Scandinavian hub for air cargo

Airbridge Cargo opens route between Oslo and Moscow on November 15th

With the opening of the AirBridge Cargo route between Oslo Airport and Moscow on 15 November, Avinor Oslo Airport consolidates its position as the biggest cargo market in the Nordic region. AirBridge Cargo connects Oslo Airport with Asia through this route.

The company will be using its Boeing 747-8F with a cargo capacity of approximately 130 tons.

“The Norwegian cargo market is one of the few markets across the globe that are still growing. With an annual growth of over 10 per cent, Avinor is committed to accommodating the growth targets in the aquaculture industry. We see a strong interest globally for the air cargo volumes represented by Norwegian seafood. With AirBridge Cargo now connecting Oslo Airport to Asia via Moscow, the competitiveness of the Norwegian seafood industry will be strengthened, and increased export to major developing markets for Norwegian seafood in Asia will be facilitated,” says Avinor Manager Cargo Development, Martin Langaas.

Market proximity is essential

AirBridge Cargo emphasise that their efficient connections may offer Norwegian exporters an attractive supply chain for the Asian markets. The quality and lead times required by Norwegian exporters make Oslo Airport an optimal partner for the company.

“Our strategy is to be as close to the customers as possible. Norwegian salmon is in high demand all over the world, and the exporters depend on the product reaching the markets before the quality deteriorates. With our global connection via the Moscow hub, combined with the first-class cooling systems on board our aircraft, we can help exporters sell their products on the world markets in the best possible way,” says Georges Biwer, Vice President EMEA, in AirBridge Cargo.

AirBridge Cargo will service Oslo Airport on Tuesdays and Fridays with a Boeing 747-8F. The first flight will be on 15 November.
