Traffic report for December: Record high of over 25 million passengers in 2012

Schönefeld and Tegel Airport welcomed a total of 25,261,192 passengers in 2012; 5.1 per cent more than in the previous year. By contrast, the number of flight movements remained virtually the same, with 242,872 take-offs and landings (+/-0%) in 2012. At 32,140 tonnes, the combined air freight of both airports rose by 2.9 per cent in 2012.
Schönefeld recorded 7,097,274 passengers (-0.2%) and a 2.5 per cent drop in the number of flight movements to 71,758.
Tegel Airport handled 18,163,918 passengers (+7.4%) and recorded a 1 per cent drop in the number of flight movements to 171,114 take-offs and landings.
December 2012
In December 2012, both airports combined recorded 1,783,652 passengers; 0.5 per cent less than in the same month the previous year. The number of take-offs and landings amounted to 16,917 flight movements (-5.8%). At 2,333 tonnes, air freight in December fell by 6.5 per cent.
496,893 passengers were recorded at Schönefeld Airport last month; 7.1 per cent less than in December 2011.
Tegel recorded 1,286,759 passengers in December; 2.3 per cent more than in the same month the previous year.
