Winter schedule 2011/2012
Vienna Airport with new direct connections and increase in numerous frequencies.
The winter schedule at Vienna Airport took effect on 30 October 2011, and includes four new carriers to expand the offering of destinations. The German airline Condor introduced connections between Vienna and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) on 2 November 2011. Flights leave Vienna every Wednesday.
Ural Airlines is also new to Vienna. As of 5 October 2011 this Russian airline expanded its schedule to include two weekly flights between Vienna and Chelyabinsk (Russia). In addition, the Greek Aegean Airlines introduced connections between Vienna and Athens five times per week starting on 12 September. September 2011 also marked the start of six weekly frequencies from Vienna to Bern by the Swiss Skywork Airlines. Another new destination is Ras Al-Khaimah (United Arab Emirates), with RAK Airways offering flights every Friday.
Austrian Airlines adds more long-haul flights
Austrian Airlines introduced a weekly connection to Male on 2 November 2011 and will raise this frequency to two fights per week as of 23 December 2011. With the start of the winter schedule, Austrian Airlines is adding another connection to Toronto that increases the number of frequencies to four per week.
NIKI and Air Malta expand their connections to Vienna
Niki is adding Tel Aviv to its range of destinations with three weekly flights beginning in February 2012. Starting with this year’s winter schedule, Air Malta expands its offering of flights to this Mediterranean Island by one additional frequency in comparison with the previous year.
Vienna offers the most destinations in Eastern Europe
With a total of 42 destinations, Vienna Airport remains the leading hub to Eastern Europe [1]. A comparison shows Frankfurt with 39 destinations, followed by Prague with 37 destinations, Munich (36 destinations), Zurich (23 destinations), Budapest (22 destinations) and Milan (17 destinations).
Flight information available online
The winter schedule for 2011 takes effect on 30 October 2011 and is valid up to 24 March 2012. An online version is available on the homepage of Flughafen Wien AG under www.viennaairport.com, where take-offs and landings can be reviewed up to 26 hours in advance. This homepage also provides a wide range of useful information for travellers which includes security regulations for carry-on and check-in baggage, site plans and travel directions to the airport as well as a detailed overview of the shopping and restaurant services offering at Vienna Airport.
