NIKI’s new ownership proportions
Deepening of the Partnership with Air Berlin
On 18 February 2010 it was announced that NIKI deepens the partnership with Air Berlin: the share of Air Berlin in the Austrian low cost carrier has been raised from 24 % to 49.9 %. NL Holding carries 50.1 % of the airline which means that Niki Lauda is still exercising control over the majority of shares.
Niki Lauda: "For me it is important that a broad basis for a further growth of NIKI could be created. The more intensive cooperation with Air Berlin is going to make us even more profitable, more efficient and more attractive for passengers."
Joachim Hunold, CEO of Air Berlin PLC, comments: "The increase in participation is a further development after years of a successful cooperation with NIKI. NIKI's network amends the network of Air Berlin so that a further access to the fast growing markets in Eastern Europe is opened for Air Berlin."
