Facts (Overview)
Abidjan Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport has now emerged from the crisis that hampered development of the country these last years. The airport as a capacity of 2 million passengers per year but is presently underserved by national or international carriers. After the liquidation of national carrier Air Ivoire, the set-up of a new carrier with the help of Air France as industrial partner is planned for early 2012. Several projects will also be developed from 2012 such as a new cargo terminal and a new general aviation/charter terminal, as well as a new training academy.
AERIA, operator of the airport, dispose of 3700 Hectares of land for new developments in and around the airport. The airport can accommodate planes up to the size of B747-8 or AN124 for cargo.

There are opportunities for new routes especially long-haul to the US, to Europe (Only CDG and BRU are served presently), to the Middle East and Asia, as well as to Southern Africa (SAA should resume their operation to JNB soon though).
