Wizz Air to launch Aberdeen - Gdansk

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today announced a new scheduled service between Aberdeen and the Polish city of Gdansk, which will start operating on 19 June this year.

PRESS RELEASE

The new route announcement is the latest in a series of moves by the airline to reinforce its position as the largest operator in Gdansk, and the only direct flight between Aberdeen and Poland.

Visitors to the Baltic coast destination can expect an energetic city crammed with diverse sights and historical thoroughfares, offering a wealth of culture and some of the oldest red brick churches in Europe.  Gdansk is also recognised as a key destination for the Aberdeen energy market.

Wizz Air’s Daniel de Carvalho said: “Aberdeen is the 107th Airport in the WIZZ network. We are delighted to fly to our 7th UK airport and 2nd Scottish airport and look forward to carrying many passengers on our new Gdansk route.”

Carol Benzie, MD of Aberdeen International Airport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air’s new service, offering Aberdeen’s only direct flight to Poland. This is great opportunity for both leisure and business passengers looking to travel for meetings and short breaks. We wish Wizz Air every success with the route”.

The polish service will start from Aberdeen International Airport on 19 June as a twice weekly service, on Monday and Friday, and will be operated with a 180 seat Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline is currently putting the finishing touches to their flight timings.

Booking is now available on wizzair.com with prices starting from £25 per person, one way.
