Bahrain Airport Company Signs Project Management Services Contract with Hill International

Bahrain Airport Company announced today the signing of a project management consultancy agreement with the global leader in managing construction risk, Hill International. The signing took place at Bahrain Airport Company's showing at the Bahrain International Airshow.

The two esteemed organisations were represented by Dr. Osama Al Ali, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company, and Abdo Kardous, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Middle East and Asia. The agreement aims at utilising Hill International's extensive expertise in project management and construction claims consulting services around the globe into the major expansion programme at Bahrain International Airport.

The contract includes a four-year base term, in addition to a four-year optional extension period. The conceptual designs of the project have been prepared and, on 26^th May 2009, world-renowned project management consultancy Hill International signed in as Project Manager. Hill's role will revolve around supervising the overall expansion of the new development. A new master planning design firm will also join on the roll in late February 2010.

Bahrain Airport Company is responsible for managing and operating Bahrain International Airport in line with the Company's strategy. The Company plans to improve the Airport's infrastructure and financial performance dramatically and make it a major contributor to the economy. The plans include building extra capacity and the utilisation of state-of-the-art information and communication technology. The Company will also provide additional facilities for VIPs, a new general aviation terminal, new commercial facilities, as well as hotels, conference centres, retail and recreational facilities.
