Gary - Chicago Airport

Gary Chicago International Airport is located just 25 miles from downtown Chicago and 35 minutes driving time. The airport is ready to assume the role of Chicago's third airport. The location provides convenient access to multiple major highways. Commuter rail access is located approximately one mile from the airport and shuttle service is available for transportation to the South Shore rail and several locations within the City of Chicago. The airport terminal has complete passenger amenities and also has Transportation Security Agency (TSA) screening in place. GYY is currently undergoing a major runway expansion project and has acquired an additional 180 acres of property. The total cost of this project is estimated at $92 million with funding sources provided by the FAA, State of Indiana and the City of Chicago. This additional property has increased the airport footprint from 640 acres to 820 acres making it larger in area than San Diego, LaGuardia and Midway airports. GYY has a SCASDG which can be used for marketing support and risk abatement worth a total of $1 million.
