The best January in the history of Warsaw Chopin Airport

In the first month of 2017 Warsaw Chopin Airport recorded an increase in passenger traffic of more than 30 percent compared to the same period of last year. The airport handled 962.7 thousand passengers. In the international traffic, as many as 826.6 thousand people were handled - 25.7 percent more than in 2016. This result was reflected in better statistics of domestic flights comparing to last year. The domestic passengers fly on connecting flights, using Warsaw as a hub. In January, Warsaw airport handled 136.1 thousand. passengers - 69.7 percent. more than in January 2016.

- Those results are the consequence of the airport’s policy set on handling hub traffic, which not only optimizes the structure of passenger traffic, but also influences directly the performance of the enterprise. We estimate that this year we will handle more than 14 million passengers - says Mariusz Szpikowski, General Director of the "Polish Airports" State Enterprise, managing Warsaw Chopin Airport.

Warsaw Airport currently handles 38 percent passenger traffic in Poland. 36 airlines offer 114 regular flights to 47 countries on 3 continents. In 2016 the airport handled 12.8 million passengers.
