Record-breaking summer holidays at Chopin Airport
The two hottest summer holiday months are over and it was a record-breaking time for Chopin Airport. In July and August the airport served over 3.4 million passengers, nearly one fourth over the number of travellers handled in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Since the beginning of the year, Chopin Airport served nearly 10.4 million passengers, a 24% increase on a year-to-year basis. Almost 9 million persons travelled on international flights (an increase by about 20 percent), while 1.4 million was the number of passengers on domestic flights (an increase by 68.5 percent).
"Considering newly launched flights and already existing services, we expect that this upward trend will be maintained," said Hubert Wojciechowski, the director of the Marketing and PR Bureau at Chopin Airport.
In August, 1.7 million passengers took advantage of the services offered by Chopin Airport, a 24 percent increase year-on-year.
