Plovdiv Airport is located 12 km. SE from the city of Plovdiv, which is the oldest in Europe (older than Rome & Athens). Plovdiv is the second biggest city in Bulgaria, situated in the very heart of the country, with a catchment area of more than 4 mio. people /incl. capital Sofia/ from a total of 7,3 mio. PDV is operational 24/7. The airport infrastructure was totally renewed in 2009, including state-of-the-art terminal building, new public parking, apron extension etc.

Ryanair currently operates 2 year-round services - from STN and HHN. S7.ru operates weekly scheduled services from DME each winter season, since 2009. Besides these many charters are operated into PDV, mainly during the winter seasons,  serving the 3 biggest ski-resorts in BG – Pamporovo, Bansko & Borovetz.
