Facts (Overview)

Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. (MIAL), a joint venture company owned by the GVK led consortium (74%) and Airports Authority of India (26%) was formed in March 2006 to manage and develop CSIA.

At present, CSIA caters to 25.80 million passengers and handles around 5,33,593 tonnes of cargo annually. Mumbai is India's financial capital and its aspirations to become a key business destination in Asia.

MIAL's vision for CSIA is to the once of the world's best airports that consistently delights customers and be the pride of Mumbai.

A brand new terminal equipped with latest systems and technology has been proposed at Sahar.

MIAL also plans to significantly improve the cargo facilities at CSIA. A new integrated cargo complex is being planned, which will be equipped to cater for goods including perishables and agri-produce.

Following the upgrade, CSIA will be able to cater to passenger traffic of 40 million passengers per year and handle cargo traffic of 1 million tonnes per year.
