TAS Summit 2010
Vancouver, Canada - 18 September 2010 To 18 September 2010
The third annual Tourism Air Services Summit (TAS) is dedicated to the vital link between air services and tourist development. TAS will be held on the 19th September 2010 and will be co-located, very appropriately, with World Routes the largest global gathering of airlines', airports' and tourism authorities' Air Service Development Professionals. With the relationship between airlines and tour operators becoming increasingly important there are now more reasons than ever before for tourism authorities to get involved in the route development process. This topical summit will focus on the relationship between tourism offices, airlines and airports and will discuss how successful tourism in the future will be created and supported by new air services.
Many tourism authorities have tended to leave their relationships with airlines to their local airport but in the present climate of airlines seeking more tourism traffic and tourism data, it is essential to all parties that Tourism Authorities become more involved and make joint presentations with their airports.
The proof that the industry trend is changing is the fact that last year at The 15th World Development Forum in Beijing, amongst the 26,000 Routes pre-scheduled meetings were, for the first time in history, pre-scheduled one to one meeting directly between airlines and Tourism Authorities. This coming year we will be further supporting this new trend and we will be focusing on delivering these meetings in response to our airlines requests.
The combination of TAS and the World Routes provides the tourism industry with an innovative, productive and in many ways essential platform for new route development. At this stage it is worth mentioning that participation in TAS is free of charge for all routes delegates.
