For the first time this year we had one category for all the Americas and one overall winner.  This years winner will automatically be shortlisted for the world awards.

We are delighted to announce that there were Two Highly Commended airports this year.

1)  Aruba Airport Authority (Queen Beatrix Airport)

aruba

Aruba demonstrated that as well as thorough research and analysis, they had a creative approach to air service development with a quirky promotional video. The airport has also delivered results achieving a number of new services over the last 12 months from COPA, AirTran, Jet Blue and KLM

2)  Boston Logan International Airport

Boston Award

This airport has had a remarkable12 months, in terms of passenger growth with a sharp increase in passenger throughput.  What stood out for this airport was not only their development of a significant JETBLUE base now serving 44 destination, but their 'task force' approach to attracting their first asian service operated by JAL!

The service is also not only the first asian route for Boston, it is also the first transpacific routes to be operated but the new 787 and it will be the first joint venture between AA and JAL.

The Winner of the Routes Airport Marketing Award for the Americas.

DFW’s Vice President of Air Service Development, Luis Perez said: “We are delighted to be recognised as one of the airport’s that works hard to obtain the services of airline customers and we look forward to continuing this success and building on our existing relationships to bring more air services to Dallas/Fort Worth International.  The arrival of new operators like Emirates Airline and Qantas will help us position ourselves as a worldwide gateway.”

Nigel Mayes, Vice President & Commercial, UBM Aviation Routes Limited,  commented:  “Dallas/Fort Worth provided a very concise and slick submission and were able to demonstrate their impressive results, together with detailing examples of their marketing communications efforts directed to airlines.  Both Boston and Aruba demonstrated high year-on-year growth and provided excellent submissions, we continue to be impressed by the standard of submissions.”
