About Bahrain

For over 4,000 years Bahrain has been one of the Gulf’s main commercial intersections. The Arabic word Bahrain means ‘two seas’. The islands derives sweet water springs and salty water in the sea.

Bahrain is a collection of 33 islands located in the Arabian Gulf, The King Fahad Causeway links Bahrain and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the majority of the population live in the capital Manama, located on the northern side of the island.

Bahrain was the first state in the Gulf region to discover oil in 1932. Bahrain has become the region’s foremost business center since the 1980s. Since then industrial, logistics, infrastructures, professional services and property management have all become essential sectors. All through this period, Bahrain has given great attention towards enhancing the skills and talents of the Bahraini people.

Looking in to the future, the Economic Vision 2030 aims for making Bahrain a more sustainable, competitive and fair economy, with an objective to increase household incomes within the next 20 years.

The Kingdom is a holiday destination. It is known to be a cosmopolitan capital city, with a liberal lifestyle, rich in history and culture. With various touristic attractions, cultural tourism in Bahrain is thriving. Bahrain Fort Site and Museum, built over 4000 years of continuous occupation is registered as a UNESCO World heritage Site.

Modern tourism is reflected upon one of the most modern Formula One race-tracks in the world, the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC). In addition to that, the Royal Golf Club, designed by international champion Colin Montgomery, is a major attraction.
