Toulouse, France, 14 May 2010
Routes has announced that the 6th Routes Europe is to be held in Cagliari, Italy. Taking place
on the 8-10th of May 2011, the key networking event for the region's air transport industry
will be hosted by Cagliari Airport.
"There is no doubt that Routes Europe is the most important annual gathering for the
region's industry professionals," comments Vincenzo Mareddu, the airport's Chairman.
"Routes Europe 2011 in Cagliari will represent for Cagliari and the Sardinian Region the ideal
platform from which to promote our destination. Being able to bring to your own
destination all key players of the aviation industry represents one of the best investments
for an airport, which will guarantee long-term economic returns. The benefits of hosting
Routes Europe are numerous; the event is the primary European showcase for airports and
is therefore vital for our visibility as well as a reference point and a strategic route
development instrument for the connectivity of our airport."
Cagliari Airport is Sardinia's largest and most important airport. Located just seven
kilometers from the city centre, it represents the best entrance to the sunniest region of
Italy and offers high quality services to passengers and carriers.
In 2009, it was the number one Italian airport in terms of passenger growth (considering
airports with over one million passengers), and it was among the best performing European
airports (Group 4) of the ACI Europe traffic report in terms of passenger growth.
Cagliari Airport has also been appointed as the official host of the ACI Europe SMAG
Conference & Exhibition, which will be run alongside Routes Europe 2011.
The announcement came at the end of the 5th Routes Europe in Toulouse, France. To find
