WestJet Airlines is leasing a single Boeing 757-200 from North American Airlines between February 12 and April 30, 2011 to increase capacity on flights between Alberta and Hawaii. Speaking exclusively to The Hub Daily at Routes Americas, Arik De, Manager, Network Planning at WestJet confirmed that the aircraft has been acquired “to generate some additional lift for the remainder of the season”. However, he noted that the deal is a short-term agreement and there are no immediate plans to extend the contract or add further aircraft. “We will simply see how it performs,” he added.
