ROUTES EUROPE: TACV to Offer Winter Link to Munich

TACV Cape Verde Airlines is to provide links from Boa Vista and Ilha do Sal to Munich this winter.  The new connection will operate on a Tuesday from October 31 on the Ilha do Sal – Munich – Boa Vista – Ilha do Sal routing. 

An estimated 22,000 O&D passengers travelled between Germany and Cape Verde in the past year, the majority flying with TUIfly to Boa Vista from a range of German airports, including Munich.  In total approximately 685,000 passengers travelled to, from and within the Cape Verde archipelago during this period.  Germany is the third largest overseas market with a 6.5 per cent share of the traffic as around 44,000 O&D passengers travelled between the two countries in the 12 month period.  Unsurprisingly, Portugal is the largest market with a 20.9 per cent share followed by France with 7.0 per cent.

The Cape Verde Islands are emerging as an alternative tourism destination offering a blend of Portuguese and West African influences, with European-style architecture mingling alongside traditional African scenery.  Made up of ten volcanic islands and five tiny islets, it combines spectacular mountain ranges and with only limited visitors, deserted beaches.  Each individual island has its own character with Boa Vista a popular diving islet.
