airberlin and Malév Launch Codeshare

Posted 10/10/2011

Eastern European flag carrier Malév Hungarian Airlines has launched a codeshare partnership with future oneworld alliance member airberlin to enhance network coverage across Europe.  The arrangement came into force at the end of last week and will start from the beginning of the Northern Winter schedules on October 30.

Under the terms of the deal, Malév’s flights between Budapest and the German cities of Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuutgart and services to the Swiss city of Zurich will now be bookable via airberlin as well as directly with the carrier.  This will enhance the offering to the Hungarian capital from Germany and will enable passengers to more easily purchase connecting flights across Europe.

“The agreement we have concluded with airberlin means that our route network is expanded with new destinations. Through this airline, which is shortly to join the oneworld alliance, our customers can access new destinations in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, and soon – from the date of accession – they will also be able to enjoy all the advantages deriving from the carrier’s membership of oneworld,” said Lóránt Limburger, Chief Executive Officer, Malév, after signing the agreement.
