Lufthansa Launches Helicopter Ski Transfers from Munich

German flag carrier Lufthansa is offering its customers the opportunity for its premium passengers to reach the ski slopes even faster this winter from its Bavarian hub at Munich’s Franz Josef Strauß International Airport after teaming up with a rotor wing provider to offer helicopters transfers.

The new service from Lufthansa’s hub in southern Germany will commence from January 1, 2015 and will provide fast and efficient access to the many nearby ski resorts. Whether it’s Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Zillertal, Kitzbühel, SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental or other resorts in the Alps – as long as there is a helipad on site, customers will be able to choose their own destination.

The arrangement with HTM Helicopter Travel Munich will operate through to the end of April 2015 and will see executive passengers collected directly from their aircraft and looked after by Munich Airport’s VIP service.

The winter ski helicopter operation adds to Lufthansa’s existing Private Jet corporate jet offering via fractional ownership specialist NetJets, which can be seamlessly integrated into the airline’s scheduled services, adding a new dimension for the premium passenger.
