La Compagnie Confirms London Luton for Newark Route

French airline, La Compagnie has confirmed London Luton as the departure airport for its new London – Newark route set to begin on April 24, 2015.

The service will be operated three-times weekly, increasing to a daily service by the end of the year, using a B757-200 aircraft with 74 lie-flat seats in a 2x2 configuration.

The service will depart London Luton at 17:45pm, arriving into Newark at 21:00pm, initially operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The return journey will depart Newark at 22:30pm, arriving into London at 10:30am.

From May 18 to June 1, 2015 the airline will increase the service to operate five times weekly, adding Saturday to the schedule, and from June 3, 2015 onwards, the service will operate six times weekly – everyday apart from Tuesdays.

La Compagnie has been operating its all business-class service between Paris Charles De Gaulle (CDG) and Newark, New York since July.

The airline said that costs have been kept to a minimum to keep the ticket prices low, with three flight attendants serving the 74 seats.

Each seat is 46.5-inch tall, has a 26-inch width and a seat pitch of 62 inches, and includes a USB port, power outlet and individual light.

Also provided are Samsung Galaxy Pro 12-inch tablets, which can be removed from the seat backs, pre-loaded with films, e-books, magazines and music.

The service onboard includes amenity kits with cosmetic products from French skincare brand Caudalie and seasonal menus created by French chef Christophe Langrée.

The airline was created in October 2013 by L'Avion dounder Frantz Yvelin and former Swissair and Jet Airways COO Peter Luethi.
