US and China to Become Better Connected with Hainan Airlines

China’s Hainan Airlines has announced its plans to begin three new nonstop routes between the United States and China.

Service will be inaugurated from San Jose International Airport - Beijing on June 15, 2015 five-times-weekly, followed by Boston Logan – Shanghai’s Pudong on June 20, 2015 which will operate thrice weekly, and from Seattle – Tacoma International – Shanghai Pudong on June 22, 2015 four days a week.

The new flights from San Jose represent the first ever nonstop service between the Silicon Valley and Mainland China, and will be operated using its two-class Boeing 787 Dreamliners on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays with early afternoon departure times.

“We are excited to open three new nonstop routes from North America to China. The community of interest and expanding trade between the United States and China has grown this market exponentially, enhanced by the new reciprocal ten year visas between the two countries recently put into place,” said Mr. Ji Chun Liu, Director of Hainan's International Department

From San Jose, flights will depart at 13:10pm, arriving into Beijing at 16:40pm the following day, while the return flights will depart Beijing at 14:30pm and arrive in San Jose at 11:10am the same day.

Services between Boston and Shanghai will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, also using Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Flights will depart Boston at 16:25pm, arriving into Shanghai at 19:35pm the following day. Return flights will depart Shanghai at 11:45am, and will arrive into Boston at 14:25pm the same day. Connections with Hainan's airline partners, including JetBlue with its Boston focus city, will allow passengers to connect to and from the new service from points throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Finally, the service between Seattle and Shanghai will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with the airlines’ two-class Airbus A330-200. Seattle flights will depart at 12 noon, arriving into Shanghai at 16:30pm the following day, while the return flight will depart Shanghai at 13:15pm arriving into Seattle at 09:35am the same day.

Hainan Airlines was founded in 1993 and has grown to be China's largest independent airline, with a fleet of over 130 aircraft, including wide body Airbus A330 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner jetliners.
