Budget carrier creates dedicated corporate sales team

Posted 23/06/2011

Easyjet has created a new sales team to focus solely on attracting business travellers.

On the back of the FlexiFare launch, which offers corporate road warriors more opportunity to change travel details at the last minute, the sales team creation underlines the budget carrier’s desire to home in on the lucrative business travel world.

The sales team is made up of ex-Virgin Atlantic staffer James Marchant, who was responsible for public sector relations and who will tackle the same role for Easyjet;  Adrian Keating, who worked as a corporate specialist at Etihad and British Airways and has travel management company experience; and Paul Davis, who joins the airline from Sabre Travel Network. Paul has worked in sales and marketing within the business, technology and leisure travel industries.

Said Easyjet head of UK sales Claire Haigh: “Launching an “Easyjet style” sales force is part of our strategy of increasing business passenger sales.

“A recent independent study has shown that Easyjet will save companies money four out of five times on short haul travel, versus negotiated rates on legacy carriers. Therefore, we believe that there are a lot of business travel savings out there that are not currently being realised.”
