Posted 04/08/2011
British Airways and Iberia parent company International Airlines Group saw a stark fall in domestic traffic last month, although this was offset by a rise in international passengers.
Traffic on domestic routes in the UK and Spain fell 21.5% during the month compared with the same period last year, but the airlines carried 7% more passengers on flights to North America, 10.4% more to Latin America and the Caribbean and 11.5% more to Asia Pacific destinations.
Traffic to Africa, the Middle East and the southern Asia was down 5.5%.
Premium traffic for the month grew by 14.2%, indicating renewed strength in the business travel market.
