Airline places big order for long-haul jets
Posted 17/09/2011
Air France KLM has ordered 110 long-haul jets to replace current aircraft with 200 to 300 seats.
The first joint order for the two airlines includes 73 next-generation aircraft, consisting of 43 Airbus A350-900s and 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.
The first 787 will enter into service with KLM in 2016 and the first A350 with Air France in 2018. Later, both airlines will offer both types of aircraft.
The new aircraft will reduce fuel consumption by over 15%, said the company.
