Gatwick and London City look to snap up Spanish airports

The owner of Gatwick and London City Airports is attempting to buy Madrid and Barcelona airports.
Global Infrastructure Partners has teamed up with Paris Charles de Gaulle and German insurance firm Allianz to put together a proposal for the Spanish hubs, according to The Times.
The Spanish government is selling a 20-year contract to run the airports to raise more than £4.4bn to help alleviate the country's debt crisis.Interested parties have to prove they have at least €3 billion in assets as well as experience of running an airport.
Other bidders for Madrid’s Barajas airport include a group led by Ferrovial, owner of Heathrow operator BAA; infrastructure firm Acciona; and a group comprising Singapore’s Changi airport and Siemens.
