Boeing needs to sell 1,100 airplanes to cover cost of Dreamliner

If anyone wonders how long it would take to recover the high costs of the much-delayed 787 Dreamliner, the answer is out: Boeing will have to deliver 1,100 before covering their costs. However, the company should start making money in a per-plane basis as early as 2015.
Those numbers came out during a recent conference call.
“It's the first time Boeing Co. has given its own estimate of when the 787 program will become profitable,” said the Puget Sound Business Journal.
Boeing delivered its first 787 to all Nippon Airways in late September.
Boeing’s estimates are in line with analysts.
The company has spent at least $30 billion on the aircraft, according to estimates from analysts.
At the current schedule, Boeing will take years to work off its backlog.
