Air France cancels flights
Posted 02/11/2011
Passengers flying with Air France are being urged to check their flight departure time before travelling to the airport as the carrier has been forced to cancel and delay services as a strike by crew enters its fourth day.
Several unions representing crew are striking until tomorrow and the airline warned that although it had kept cancellations to a minimum today, other cancellations might occur at short notice.
Members of two of the smaller unions representing a quarter of Air France's crew have returned to work, enabling Air France to operate 90% of its flights today, but some services are being delayed and others are being forced to fly with empty seats so that the airline does not break international rules on cabin crew to passenger ratios.
Four long-haul flights have been cancelled today, all fom Paris Charles de Gaulle, due to the dispute which centres around Air France's decision to reduce staff numbers of long-haul services.
