Posted 11/11/2011

Unite is calling on Acas to intervene in the dispute between Thomas Cook and its cabin crew.

Following talks in Manchester yesterday, Unite regional officer Mick Whitley said Unite has asked for the dispute to go to Acas.

"We are waiting to hear from Thomas Cook if it wishes to go down the Acas route, which is allowed for in the agreement Unite has with the company," he said.

The dispute is over the redundancy terms for nearly 500 cabin crew who face losing their jobs.

Unite has requested minimum redundancy terms of three weeks per year, plus a lump sum payment of £5,000.

Currently TC is offering two weeks per year redundancy pay.

The average cabin crew pay is £15,000 a year.
