Couple sue airline over cockroaches

Posted 14/11/2011

A couple is suing an airline alleging they were sickened by cockroaches coming out of air vents and storage areas on a recent flight.

Passengers Harry Marsh and his fiancee, Kaitlin Rush, from North Carolina, are suing for negligence and recklessness among other accusations, reports the Daily Mail.

The couple claim the insects scurried out of air vents and carry-on compartments on the AirTran Airways flight from Charlotte to Houston on September 15, allowing them to take pictures of them to include in their lawsuit.

They are suing for over $100,000 from the airline for mental and emotional distress, in addition to the price they paid for their tickets.

AirTran said it can't comment on pending litigation, but it denies several of the allegations.

The airline says cleanliness is important and that planes are regularly and professionally treated for bugs.
