Qantas has seen its profits for the first half of the financial year drop at least A$227m (£144m) due to an industrial dispute which led to the grounding of its entire fleet last month.

The carrier said it expects to make a profit of A$140m to $190m, compared with $417m during the same period last year.

Chief executive Alan Joyce said business had been picking up since the industrial action had ended.
