Manchester, July 2009

"It's a timely reminder that airports haven't halted their air service development activities despite the current recession. Quite the contrary," commented ASM Managing Director John Grant. "To safeguard their existing routes, they realise they have to work even harder, and among other things that means continually updating their staff training and growing their expertise."

The Manchester event was the third of its kind this year and was designed to give participants from Caribbean, European and Middle Eastern airports a clearer understanding of their airports' market opportunities, customers and how best to deliver new routes.

The dedicated course in Guam was a good example of the highly specialised in-company courses which ASM delivers around the globe. In this instance airports of the US Pacific Territories were present as part of their activity to develop strategy for coming years. Guam is scheduled to receive investment in air travel infrastructure in coming years given the continuing strategic importance of the area to the US.
