Increased interest in flying thanks to the growing economic strength of the Czech population and the good security situation in the world, new regular flights, record July, a well-managed crisis with the Boeing 737 MAX and further overcoming the threshold of half a million passengers. Even so, one could summarize the year 2019 at the Brno-Turany airport. In total, the airport in Tuřany handled 543,633 passengers last year, bringing a year-on-year increase of 8.5% compared to 2018.
While in 2018 the number of passengers handled just exceeded half a million, in 2019 Brno airport can still boast of increased interest in flying from Tuřany. Despite the February collapse of British bmi regional, which provided regular connections to Munich, the number of passengers has increased thanks to the new scheduled flights and the successful summer season. In addition, this year's July was a record-breaking record with 117 255 passengers handled. The grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX did not significantly affect these numbers either.
“In total, almost 376,000 passengers used seasonal flights, which is an increase of 4.5% compared to last year. On regular flights, we handled 18.6% more passengers last year, ie 167.5 thousand. Most of them flew to London. In the summer, people went to Greece and Turkey the most, ” commented Zdeněk Šoustal, Member of the Board of Directors of LETIŠTĚ BRNO as
