Surinam Airways introduces new aircraft to Aruba

Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) was very pleased to welcome Surinam Airways’ new 737-700 aircraft to Aruba.

The new aircraft arrived at 3:05 pm on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018 with a total of 101 happy passengers on board. The total seat capacity of the new 737-700 is 128 including 8 business and 120 economy seats. After termination of the aircraft leases of the two 737-300 aircraft, Surinam Airways recently invested in a more optimal aircraft. The 737-700 is the first of its kind in their fleet, and will operate 6 destinations with this aircraft including Aruba, Curacao, Trinidad and Tobago, Belem (Brazil), Guyana (Georgetown), and Miami. Surinam Airways currently operates from Aruba to Miami and Paramaribo and carried a total of 9,816 passengers in 2017.

At the moment, Surinam Airways has two aircraft to operate the regional flights, the 737-300 and the 737-700, of which another one will be added by October 2018. “The plan for Surinam Airways is to continue growing. We are pleased to welcome Surinam Airways’ new 737-700 and look forward to future opportunities,” said AAA Air Service Development Manager Ms. Jo-Anne Arends.
