Still more growth at Bordeaux Airport, +21.7% in January 2011 After 2010 which has recorded an overall increase of 10.3%

With nearly 259,500 passengers passing through the airport last month, Bordeaux saw a growth of +21.7% in passenger traffic compared with January 2010. Though this figure can be partly explained by traffic disruptions in January 2010 (with a loss of 8,200 passengers), it is mainly the result of dynamic growth in Bordeaux’s international traffic. Compared with January 2009, this year’s traffic was up +22.7% and compared with January 2008 it was up +11.5%.

With a growth of +46.8% and around 73,000 passengers, international traffic once again recorded
very strong results. This success was apparent for all destinations, including the large international
hubs of Paris, London and Amsterdam. Low cost routes alone made up 51% of international traffic, while Geneva, Casablanca and London Gatwick all continue to benefit from two airlines operating the same route.

Recent political developments in Tunisia, however, led to a +21% decrease in traffic on the
Bordeaux-Tunis route.

Meanwhile, domestic traffic was up +14.1% with over 186,600 passengers. Although the Strasbourg route was down 300 passengers on January 2010, all the other domestic routes saw increases in traffic: Lyon, Marseille, Nice and Lille, the four biggest domestic destinations outside of Paris in terms of passenger numbers saw growth as high as +26% (on the Lille route).

The Bordeaux-Paris connection recorded a growth of +11.9%, with 120,800 passengers making use of the link. Charter traffic continued to grow, with an increase of +54.5% in the middle of winter. Almost 7,200 passengers took advantage of flights to the Mediterranean, as well as transatlantic flights, where the new destination of Punta Cana welcomed around 1,800 passengers from Bordeaux.
