Lodz Airport: preparations for return of passenger flights

Polish government extended the period for international travel ban till the 6th of June.

The Polish Ministry of Infrastructure has prepared a regulation extending the ban on international air traffic until 6th of June, and for domestic flights until 31st of May.

"Due to the epidemic in the Republic of Poland, it is necessary to extend the period of air traffic bans for another 14 days for international flights and for another 8 days for domestic flights," the Regulation Impact Assessment contains.

The previous ordinance of the Council of Ministers from the 8th of May on air traffic bans expired at the end of 23rd of May. The new regulation will be valid until the 6th of June, with the exception of provisions related to domestic traffic, which is valid until the 31st of May. The new regulation entered into force on the 24th of May.

The regulation lengthens a ban on performing, at Polish airports and landing pads, landing of civil aircraft with passengers operating international flights. The exception of this ban contains flights on Prime Minister request, private flights on aircraft with up to 15 passenger seats; charter flights carried out by foreign air carriers on behalf of foreign states to return their citizens.

Regarding the prohibition of domestic flights, the exceptions are cargo flights which take or leave goods or mail. It also doesn't include the planes with up to 15 passenger seats.

Lodz Airport took considerable steps in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. After the end of the suspension of flights, there will be changes in the way in which Lodz Airport functions. We prepared the most important principles of the new sanitary regime based on actual recommendations stated in European Health Safety Protocol and prepared by Polish Aviation Authority.
