King Khalid International Airport achieves the “Most Improved Airport”

Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport achieves the “Most Improved Airport” in the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards

Riyadh, 17 June 2022

In a new milestone for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Aviation Sector, Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport won the accolade of "Most Improved Airport" at the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards. Based on customer evaluations of airport services and facilities across over 550 airports, Skytrax awards are regarded as the Oscars of the airport industry.

King Khalid International Airport, operated by Riyadh Airports Company (RAC), now ranks 29th in Skytrax’s ‘World Top 100 Airports’ jumping 29 places from last year’s ranking of 58th place. The airport was also placed third on the list of the top 10 airports in the Middle East, and equally third place for the best airport staff in the Middle East. This award recognizes the combined quality of staff service delivered across front-line positions.

Speaking upon receiving the award, Eng. Mohammed Al-Maghlouth, CEO of RAC, said, "We are honoured that King Khalid International Airport has received this latest accolade, especially since it comes directly from our passengers who participated in the Skytrax survey, sharing their travelling experiences at the capital city airport. This milestone demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the aspirations of Vision 2030 and the national aviation strategy.”

“I would like to thank our wise leadership for their vision and guidance, without which none of this would be possible. I would further like to thank the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Matarat Holding Company and our partners for helping us to enhance and develop our services and facilities. With their support, today King Khalid International Airport provides a second-to-none travel experience that rivals some of the most established airports around the world.” Al-Maghlouth added.

The 2022 Awards are based on the World Airport Survey questionnaires completed by over 100 nationalities during the eight-month survey period from 2021 to 2022. The survey evaluated the customer experience across airport services and product key performance indicators including check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration and departure.
