Eastern Airways announces new connections through Southampton

In association with Wideroe

UK airline, Eastern Airways has signed a new codeshare agreement with Wideroe which will also provide Southampton Airport travellers with greater Norwegian connections via Aberdeen, along with improved access to the Norwegian carrier’s comprehensive network of Scandinavian destinations.

As part of the codeshare partnership, Eastern Airways “T3” flight code will continue to be placed on services between Aberdeen and Stavanger and Newcastle and Stavanger.  It will also be added to Aberdeen – Bergen services, which are bookable on Eastern Airways website and via travel agents now.

This codeshare partnership and ticketing agreement will enable Eastern Airways to offer connections from Southampton to Stavanger and Bergen via Aberdeen.  Passengers hold baggage will be checked in at Southampton and collected at their end destination.

Other UK services from Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Norwich, Stornoway and Wick John O’Groats also connect via Aberdeen to Stavanger and Bergen.

Onward connections in Norway are also available on Wideroe’s network, including those to Haugesund, Kristiansand, Skien, Kristiansund, Molde and Sandefjord.  In turn, Wideroe will be able to offer connections on Eastern Airways’ network to Norwegians travelling onwards within the UK.

Eastern Airways is the UK’s leading provider of fixed wing air services for the oil and gas industry, and offers a choice of daily weekday flights from Southampton to Leeds Bradford and Aberdeen plus a Sunday service.  It was also recently named Europe’s number one regional airline after receiving the Airline of the Year Gold award from the European Regions Airline Association (ERA).

Wideroe is Scandinavia’s largest regional airline operating to more than twice as many airports in Norway than any other airline.  It flies to 48 international and domestic destinations.

Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, said: “This exciting new partnership with renowned Norwegian carrier, Wideroe, not only offers a new destination from Aberdeen to Bergen on the Eastern Airways network, but also ensures UK regional passengers from airports including Southampton are better connected to Norway travelling via Aberdeen.  These connections through our Aberdeen hub are extremely convenient, viable options for travellers, particularly those within the oil and gas industry, heading to Norway or the UK.  With onward links in Norway, Wideroe has established a vast route network and we are delighted to be working with them.”

Terje Skram, Wideroe’s vice president network and pricing, said: “We are pleased to forge this new codeshare partnership with Eastern Airways.  We can now offer improved links into the UK through Eastern Airways’ comprehensive domestic network from Aberdeen, which helps to further grow traffic on these routes.”

Eastern Airways has been providing high frequency flights from Southampton since 2003.

Fast track security channels to avoid queues at security search at both Southampton and Aberdeen airports are available to all departing Eastern Airways scheduled passengers.
