Avinor is launching an expansion project at Trondheim Airport Værnes

In the near future, Trondheim Airport Værnes will be improved, and the goal is an even more flexible and efficient airport. An external advisory group has now been selected, and work will start already before the summer.

The modernization project is intended to improve both the capacity of the luggage facility and the reception of goods in the terminal, as well as increase the number of airline seats.

A sketch project has been established and this will lead to a concept for the development of the terminal.
The project will be carried out mainly with its own project resources and local expertise, with assistance from external project manager.

Tender round completed
A procurement process has been carried out by an advisory group in connection with the project. The agreement will initially apply to design in connection with the implementation and preparation of a sketch project. After conducting a thorough evaluation and negotiating rounds, it has been decided to award the contract to a group of Nordic -Office of Architecture, COWI and Norconsult.

- We are very pleased that we are now embarking on a new sketch project, and that we have joined a good advisory team, says airport director Marit H. Stigen. Working on such a large construction project will be both exciting and demanding, while we must have a very strong focus on the costs both in operation and in the project. However, this project is necessary for us to fulfill our social mission - by providing safe and effective services to residents and businesses in our region. Nevertheless, it is important for us to emphasize that this project cannot be realized until we are through the aviation crisis and Avinor is in, but then we must also be ready.
