A record number of passengers - 15,752,000 – have been handled at Warsaw Chopin last year. It is an increase of about 22 percent compared to the previous year.

In December 2017 over 1 million 120 thousand passengers have been handled at Chopin Airport, an increase by more than 14 comparing to December 2016. Last year, over 13.7 million people traveled in international traffic (an increase of approx. 20 percent), and in the domestic traffic almost 2.1 million people (an increase by approx. 48 percent).

"Such a high number of passengers handled is a huge success of Warsaw Chopin Airport," says Hubert Wojciechowski, Director of Marketing and PR Bureau of Warsaw Chopin Airport. "The result achieved clearly confirms that Warsaw airport is a leader in the region. We are also pleased that more and more passengers perceive us as a convenient transfer point. We hope that the new long-distance connections will additionally strengthen the attractiveness of Warsaw Chopin Airport."

Last year was a busy one for the airport. A Kiss and Fly zone has been opened to facilitate access to the terminal at the departures level. The airport, in the interest of the good of the local residents, came up with the proposal to introduce "Core Night" – take-offs and landings restrictions at night. The project has been approved and will come into force at the end of March this year. The runway No. 3 was modernized. The airport introduced new passenger facilities - free drinking water fountains in the restricted area, telephones enabling free calls to domestic cell and fixed numbers, and rebuilt and enlarged the document control zones. The “Polish Airports” State Enterprise was officially transformed by the Parliament - thanks to the change, the activities of the company managing the Chopin Airport will be faster and easier. Together with partners, a Fiat 126p was sent to Los Angeles as part of the "Bielsko-Biała for Tom Hanks" action.

In the summer season, 35 regular carriers offered connections to 99 cities in Europe, eight Asian destinations, five in North America, four in Africa and three in the Middle East.
